Washington, DC – Today, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) expressed disappointment with the U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision to uphold an Indiana law requiring voters to show government-issued photo identification before they can vote. The decision involved two consolidated cases, Crawford v. Marion County Election Board and Indiana Democratic Party v. Rokita.

Washington, DC – Today, the Senate passed S. 1315, which includes a provision that would give veterans' benefits to Filipinos who fought under the U.S. flag during World War II in the Pacific theater. Filipino veterans were promised the same benefits given to other WWII veterans, but Congress took them away in 1946. This bill would restore some of those benefits. Rep. Scott directed questions to Asheesh Agarwal, Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the U. S. Department of Justices Civil Rights Division, at a voter suppression hearing held by the Judiciary Committees Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties.
